The Moroccan bath in Hurghada is a 90-minute deep-cleansing ritual with savon beldi black soap, a kessa glove scrub, rhassoul clay and argan oil for €27 per person (regular €36), with free pickup and drop-off from hotels inside Hurghada. Compared with the Turkish hammam it is stronger on exfoliation and nourishment: the olive-based black soap softens the skin for ten minutes before the scrub, so far more dead skin comes away, and the argan oil massage at the end leaves it glowing rather than just clean.
What is the difference between a Moroccan and a Turkish hammam?
Both happen on 38°C marble after a steam. The Turkish version is about warm water and foam. The Moroccan version is about ingredients: black soap from olive paste and eucalyptus, mineral rhassoul clay from the Atlas mountains, rose water and cold-pressed argan oil. If your skin is dry, rough on the elbows and knees, or still shedding after a sunburn from two weeks ago, choose the Moroccan hammam.
What happens during the Moroccan hammam?
- Steam room, 15 minutes at 45°C to open the pores.
- Black soap application, 10 minutes: the dark paste is spread over the whole body and left to work while warm water is poured over your shoulders.
- Kessa scrub, 20 minutes: the therapist works the glove in long strokes; the skin that lifts off is visible and, honestly, satisfying.
- Rhassoul clay mask, 15 minutes: mineral clay mixed with rose water draws out impurities and tightens the skin.
- Rinse and argan massage, 30 minutes: a warm rinse followed by a relaxing full-body argan oil massage and a scalp rinse.

Can I have it if I have sensitive skin?
Yes, tell your therapist and the glove pressure will be lighter. Black soap is fragrance-light and free of harsh detergents. We do not scrub over fresh sunburn, open cuts or active eczema.
How to prepare
Do not shave or wax the same day, avoid alcohol beforehand, and drink water. Everything else is provided: robe, slippers, disposable underwear and single-use towels. The marble is sanitised between guests.
After your session
Your skin will feel new and slightly tender for an hour, then very soft for 7-10 days. Keep out of the midday sun for the rest of the day and moisturise that evening. Many guests pair it with a Hydrafacial the same week.

What to Expect
Pickup from your Hurghada hotel is free and arranged for roughly 20 minutes before your start (Sahl Hasheesh, El Gouna and Makadi +€10 per guest). You change in a private cabin, get a robe and slippers, and your therapist, who speaks English, German, Russian or Arabic, explains each ingredient before using it.
The 90 minutes run steam, black soap, kessa scrub, rhassoul mask, rinse and argan oil massage. The room is private, the marble is at 38°C, and the pouring water is warm rather than hot. Expect a noticeable amount of dead skin to come away during the scrub; this is normal and is why the ritual works.
You finish with mint tea in the lounge. Skin may look pink for 30-60 minutes. Avoid shaving beforehand and strong sun afterwards. Payment is after the session, in EUR, EGP or by card, and your driver returns you to the hotel.
